Some poetry

Our PWE teacher set us a task for the holidays. The task was to attempt original poetry utilising a table of nouns and verbs he supplied us with. He also gave us the option of introducing new words but I kind of liked the idea of having restrictions. below are some of the verses I cam up with. None have titles. My favourite is the 5th.

1.

Dawn breaks and the morning star dances.

The cough of a bird and the snarl of a dog.

The sun is but a torch pouring into an everlasting night.

The moon brings a close to the afternoon

Like a jacket being zipped,

An arm rakes from the sky.

2.

The open mouth of the sky;

grass whipped by the wind.

The afternoon sun

brings the sea to a boil.

The bell and the bird

whistle as one.

3.

Vunerable to the elements like

a turtle without a jacket.

The wind slices and the rain beats down.

An apple with no tree.

The afternoon turns and

the snow shakes the sky.

4.

Trees with no shoes dance in the sea.

The shirt on the dog is

the fur on the man.

Cut through the dirt and snag me a peach.

The afternoon grass will

boil in my mouth.

5.

Elbow grass in a sea of boiling blueberries.

A turtle sniffs the wind.

The sun coughs, the moon laughs.

A dirty peach can hope.
