It must have been 3 days since Tom had spoken to another human being, a significant amount of time by any standard. He decided to take a different route home tonight, past a long since a long since abandoned park for children. He noticed a man not much younger than him. Tom would’ve estimated early 40s, possibly younger; too old to be spray-painting a playground wall. Tom watched as the words formed on the wall: FUCK IT! they emphatically stated. Maybe you’re right thought Tom. When the man noticed him Tom put his head down and continued on his way.
